Nissan LEAF

There is no doubt that more people are choosing to drive Electric Vehicles.

– Manufacturer Nissan enjoyed record sales of it electric Leaf last month; 4,700 sales globally.

– August was the best month ever for US plug-in vehicle sales, totaling 11,073 units.

– Scandinavia has always led the way when it comes to environmentally friendly driving. In Norway, September was a record month for EV registrations, topping the list of new car registrations. EVs sales outperformed traditionally fuelled cars, taking 8.6% of the overall market. A year ago, EV market share was just 5.2%.

Traditionally, those wanting efficient running have turned to diesel engines typically enjoying 10 – 20% fuel efficiency improvements. With increasing fuel costs and stricter emissions regulations (and incentives), will more people turn from diesel to EV driving?

With a 95% cost saving on offer, the potential exists for EVs to become a realistic alternative to diesel in particular. Link these benefits to the fast charging plans of 15,200 stations globally by 2014… EVs are becoming serious contenders in the motoring world!
